Everyone should be able to use and enjoy their kitchen. This is why Symphony in collaboration with Adam Thomas, created the Freedom innovative collection of kitchens that can be designed to suit your access requirements.
Freedom kitchens are also ideal for multi-generational households where there are different generations sharing the same space. Our kitchens combine functionality and style to enable you to enjoy cooking and socialising in your kitchen.
A Freedom kitchen effortlessly integrates new interior trends with unsurpassed functionality. Our kitchens are tailored to the needs of the people using it, and with our fundamental accessible design principles we can achieve the most inspiring space that encompasses safety, style and flexibility. Safety is an important factor and through the introduction of innovative features and principles we can create a space that reduces the risk of injuries and falls.

Freedom and Building Regulations
Freedom accessible kitchens have been designed with the requirements of the Building Regulations Approved Document-M (M4(3) Category 3, Wheelchair User Dwellings) in mind, and also considers the suggestions from the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide 2018.
Working alongside industry leader Adam Thomas, who happens to be a wheelchair user, Symphony have also reviewed design features above and beyond the requirements of these documents, that we believe offer unrivalled accessibility and functionality for a wheelchair accessible kitchen.
Displayed below are a few of the ways we can help your wheelchair accessible kitchens meet the requirements, whilst also being inclusive for all users.

SAFETY
A fundamental principle of inclusive design is ensuring safety throughout so we can create a space that reduces the risk of injuries and falls. This needs to be considered at every stage of planning and includes the layout of kitchen cabinets to the height of ovens and work surfaces. Features such as waterfall edge worktops and induction hobs are highly recommended whilst the contrast in colour between frontals, worktops, floors and walls will assist users with visual impairments. |
